Balázs Dobos and Balázs Vizi will attend the conference entitled "Transnational Participation of Minorities" at the ELTE's Faculty of Social Sciences on 21-22 November. The titles of their presentations are: Balázs Vizi: Social integration and/or minority rights – how does the FCNM Advisory Committee identify Roma issues? Balázs Dobos: Territoriality and political participation. Cultural autonomies and minority parliamentary representation in Central and South Eastern Europe. The presentation of Margit Bethlen's book A költőnő, akinek férje miniszterelnök [The poetess whose husban is prime minister] (Gondolat Kiadó, compiled by Zsuzsanna Rózsafalvi and Tamás Gusztáv Filep) will take place at the Petőfi Literary Museum (1053 Budapest, Károlyi utca 16.) on 11 November 2024 at 5 pm.  

The film Védőőrizet [Protective Custody] (Hungarian Political Prisoners in Nazi Concentration Camps) by Péter Pál Tóth will be screened at Tabán Artmozi (Budapest, Krisztina krt. 87-89.) on 13 November at 5 pm. The film features our colleague Dr. Ágnes Tóth; editor-reporter Tamás Gusztáv Filep

Our colleague Csilla Fedinec will participate on the Re:Open Zakarpattia 2024 forum, which will be held on November 8-9, 2024, in Uzhhorod (Ukraine). She will participate in two events: Hard-talk „What Hungary expects from Ukraine. And what Ukraine should expect from Hungary”, and panel discussion „National Communities of Ukraine as Unobvious Lobbyists of European Integration”, as well as taking part in the public summary of the results of the two-day international forum.

Our colleague Nándor Bárdi spoke on Péter Ungár's podcast about the links between Hungarians living beyond the borders and Fidesz's identity politics.

The conference entitled "National Images: Hungarians about Romanians, Romanians about Hungarians from the 19th century to the present day", organised by our Institute on 16 May, was reported by the Romanian nationality programme Ecranul nostru of Hungarian Television.

On 25 October, the Ernő Fábián 90 Memorial Day was held in Covasna (Romania), where our institute was represented by Nándor Bárdi and Tamás Gusztáv FIlep. 

On 28 October, the Society of Hungarian Writers in Slovakia organised the first Day of Hungarian Literature in Slovakia, where Tamás Gusztáv Filep presented the posthumous volume of László Dobos: "... nem maradhatunk az alázat porában..." (ed. János Tamási Orosz).

Our colleague Csilla Fedinec will be one of the participants of a discussion about the impact of the Russian-Ukrainian war and the Middle East crises on the security policy of the European Union. For more information (in Hungarian) on the event, click here.
